Digital Technologies tutor Adelaide for Years 8–12

One-to-one support with coding and programming

Digital Technologies tuition for secondary students who need individual support with coding, programming concepts and their school learning.

Sessions can include Python, HTML and JavaScript, based on the student's learning needs and experience.

Individual support for Digital Technologies students

Digital Technologies can become challenging when a student understands part of the task but is unsure how the code works, where something has gone wrong or how to turn an idea into a working solution.

One-to-one tuition gives us time to focus on those individual questions.

Our Digital Technologies tuition is based around the student's current learning needs and experience. We can work with coding and programming concepts; look at areas they are finding difficult and provide additional support alongside their secondary school learning.

The content can include Python, HTML and JavaScript where relevant to the student.

Digital Technologies tuition for Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12

Tuition is available for secondary students across Year 8, Year 9, Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12.

Students at these year levels can have very different levels of Digital Technologies experience. One student may be relatively new to programming, while another may already have coding experience and need help understanding more complex concepts or working through a particular problem.

The one-to-one format means we can start with what the individual student already understands and focus on the areas where additional explanation or support is useful.

Rather than assuming every student at the same year level needs the same content, tuition responds to their existing skills and current learning.

What we can work on in Digital Technologies tuition

The focus of each session depends on what the student is learning and where they need support.

Coding and programming concepts

Students can work through programming concepts they are finding difficult and gain additional opportunities to understand how code works.

This may involve looking closely at a piece of code, working through the logic involved and identifying what needs to change when the result is not what the student expected.

Python programming

Python can form part of Digital Technologies tuition depending on the student's school learning, existing experience and areas where support is needed.

One-to-one sessions allow us to concentrate on the particular concepts or coding problems the student is working through.

HTML and JavaScript

Tuition can also include HTML and JavaScript.

Where these technologies are relevant to the student's learning, we can work through how they are being used and provide individual support with the concepts involved.

Current school learning

Digital Technologies tuition can support what the student is currently working on at school.

Bringing current questions and relevant school material gives us a practical starting point for identifying where the student needs further explanation or assistance.

How Digital Technologies tuition starts

There is no assumption that every student arrives with the same programming knowledge.

I start by understanding what the student is currently learning, the coding or Digital Technologies experience they already have and the areas they want help with.

From there, we can focus the session on the relevant concepts and problems.

Sometimes that means going back to clarify an underlying programming idea. At other times, the student may understand the fundamentals but need support working through more complex code.

The aim is to meet the student at their current level and build from there.

Supporting school learning and technical understanding

Digital Technologies tuition sits alongside the student's existing secondary school learning.

The focus is individual rather than based on a separate standard course. A student can bring questions from their current work; discuss programming concepts they do not fully understand and work through coding problems one-to-one.

This also creates space to slow a concept down when needed.

Instead of moving on because the rest of a class is ready, we can spend more time examining how the code works, what different parts are doing and why a particular approach produces a particular result.

As the student's experience develops, the level of programming support can develop with them.
