School holiday workshops for different ages and interests

Holiday workshops are designed to give children the chance to explore technology and STEM in a focused session without needing to commit to a full term program.

Some workshops are aimed at younger children who are beginning to explore coding, robotics and digital technologies. Others are designed for older children who are ready to work with more detailed design tools, robotics platforms or game development environments.

The holiday workshop program currently includes:

  • Junior Bots workshop for ages 6–9
  • 3D CAD and printing workshop for ages 9–14
  • Robotics workshop for ages 9–14
  • Game development workshop for ages 9–14

These workshops provide a practical way for children to try new technologies, build confidence, and develop problem-solving and creative thinking skills in a supportive learning environment.

Holiday workshop options

Game development workshop | Ages 9-14

The game development workshop introduces children to creating their own games using platforms such as Scratch, MakeCode Arcade and Godot basics.

Students explore how games are structured and begin developing their own interactive projects. Depending on the platform used, they may work with sprites, movement, scoring, simple logic, events and core game design concepts.

This workshop is ideal for children who enjoy computers, games, storytelling, creativity and learning how digital projects are made.

Junior Bots workshop | Ages 6-9

The Junior Bots holiday workshop gives younger children an introduction to a range of STEM activities through guided, hands-on projects.

Rather than focusing on one technology only, this workshop includes a variety of activities that may involve coding, robotics, simple electronics, design tasks and creative making. The aim is to give children a broad, accessible STEM experience that is practical, interesting and age-appropriate.

This workshop is suited to children who enjoy building, creating, experimenting and exploring how technology works.

3D CAD and printing workshop | Ages 9-14

In this workshop, students use Tinkercad to create their own 3D designs and learn how digital ideas can become physical objects through 3D printing.

Children work through the process of designing in CAD, developing spatial thinking and learning how digital models are prepared for printing. The workshop gives them an opportunity to understand both the creative and technical sides of 3D design.

This workshop is well suited to children who enjoy designing, inventing, creating objects and working with technology in a practical way.

Robotics workshop | Ages 9-14

The robotics workshop gives children opportunities to build, program and test robots using LEGO Spike and Edison robots.

Students explore how robots can be programmed to move, respond and solve challenges. Activities can involve both construction and coding, helping children understand how mechanical design and programming work together.

This workshop is suited to children who enjoy problem-solving, experimenting, building and seeing their code control real-world devices.
